Meet our Kitchen Manager, Allyson Biondo

In 2013 I joined the kitchen crew at the East Warren Community Market.  Prior to that I worked downstairs as a clerk starting when the market opened in 2009.  During this time, I was also serving regularly at the Common Man and managing a small vegetable farm that supplied produce to both the restaurant and the market.  In hindsight, these job experiences organically prepared me for the job of managing our market kitchen.

On the farm, I learned a lot about the nature of vegetables.  At the Common Man, I learned an abundance about preparing food, paying attention to balance of flavor and texture, and even taking the color palate into consideration.  I was trained to make the few recipes that existed at the market at that time and still do to this day.  The forever favorites: peanut noodles, cranberry chicken salad and hummus.  I was then given artistic license to explore and create new recipes.

I am a stained glass artist and a muralist.  So taking food to a creative level came naturally to me.  As the variety of food we made began to grow, so did my job.  Eventually, I was made kitchen manager.

We have a fabulous and talented crew of women who continually supply our customers with delicious, quality, reasonably priced food.  We start first thing in the morning with fresh baked goods and local egg breakfast sandwiches.  Moving through the day, we provide lunch and dinner including delicious soups, salads and wraps.
